The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2024 Season is coming to its close in Shanghai.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) 2024 season is set for an electrifying conclusion at the Shanghai International Circuit, with multiple championship battles hanging in the balance. The finale features a unique triple-header format, including the return of the popular 43-minute Endurance Challenge as the weekend’s climactic event.
Championship Battle Intensifies in Pro Class
The spotlight falls on an intense three-way battle for the Pro class championship. Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti leads the standings with a slim 16-point advantage over fellow Frenchman Mathys Jaubert of TORO Racing. Dylan Pereira, representing Shanghai Yonda Team BWT, remains in contention just 32 points behind after securing an impressive double victory in Singapore.
The stakes are particularly high for these competitors, as the championship winner will receive an coveted entry into next year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Australia event at Albert Park, supporting the Australian Grand Prix. Additionally, class winners will be awarded VIP tickets to the prestigious Bathurst 12 Hours as special guests of Porsche.
Pro-Am and Am Class Championships Heat Up
In the Pro-Am category, while Bao Jinlong (Phantom Global Racing) has already secured his fifth title, an intense battle for runner-up position continues between Li Xuanyu (Z.SPEED Motorsport), Li Chao (Team Betterlife), and TORO Racing’s Eric Zang. The class sees exciting lineup changes, including the return of 2022 Pro-Am champion Lu Wei and reigning Am-class champion Yang Ruoyu’s step up to Pro-Am.
The Am category features its own compelling championship fight, with Bergwerk Motorsport’s Eric Kwong holding a 27-point lead over EBM’s Munkong Sathienthirakul. Both drivers have claimed victories in recent events, setting the stage for an epic finale.
Record-Equaling Grid for Season Finale
The Shanghai event equals the season’s record for participation, matching the 29-entry field seen in Sepang. New additions to the Am category include Liu Lic Ka with Z.SPEED Motorsport and Han Songting with Porsche Own Retail 69 Team, while the Pro class welcomes Brock Gilchrist in the #84 Porsche New Zealand entry for his series debut.
Shanghai International Circuit: The Perfect Stage
The 5.451-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit, renowned for hosting the Chinese Grand Prix, provides an ideal setting for the season finale. The track’s distinctive features include an extensive back straight and the challenging snail-like sequence through Turns 1-4, promising exciting racing action across all classes.
Beyond the Racing
The weekend showcases Porsche’s commitment to motorsport development through the Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Programme (TTAP), with selected candidates gaining valuable hands-on experience during the finale. Additionally, the Porsche Sports Cup China will run alongside the main event, featuring customer hot laps and a spectacular Porsche Parade with over 200 vehicles expected to participate.

The action-packed weekend begins with Free Practice on Friday at 10:20 (Malaysia time), followed by Saturday’s qualifying at 09:40 and Race 1 at 15:40. Sunday features a double-header with Race 2 at 10:40 and the season-concluding Endurance Challenge at 15:40.
