The Proton Preve driver was more fortunate and received treatment after the accident
A fatal accident occurred on Monday at kilometre 7 of Jalan Gua Musang – Kuala Lipis, resulting in the death of a passenger in a lorry. The victim, identified as 53-year-old Khairul Anuar, was pronounced dead at the scene. While tragedies like this are certainly not welcome news, we here at DSF hope they will serve as a reminder to always be vigilant when driving.
Gua Musang District Police Chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo reported that the accident involved a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry and a Proton Preve car. Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver of the Proton Preve lost control of the vehicle, veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the front of the lorry.
Moreover, upon arrival, emergency services found that the driver of the car, as well as the 38-year-old lorry driver, sustained minor injuries. Both were promptly transported to Gua Musang Hospital for initial treatment. Unfortunately, the lorry passenger, Khairul Anuar, did not survive the impact and was confirmed dead at the scene.
His body was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital’s Forensic Unit for an autopsy. The police are investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which addresses reckless driving resulting in death. Superintendent Sik Choon Foo urged anyone with information related to the accident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
