Will LG finally make EV charging as quick as refuelling or not yet?
LG Business Solutions USA has taken a significant step to address the increasing demand for efficient electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions by launching its first Level 3 DC Charger in the U.S. The new model, LG EVD175SK-PN, has received UL 2594 certification, ensuring compliance with the UL Standard for Electric Vehicle (EV) Supply Equipment.
This innovative fast charger will be assembled at LG’s production centre in Fort Worth, Texas, starting this fall. Designed with modern aesthetics, the Level 3 DC Charger offers dynamic load management for multiple units, a high-resolution 24-inch LCD touch-screen display, and a liquid-cooled CCS/NACS charging cable.
Moreover, its stand-type design includes a connected Power Bank, enabling rapid charging of up to 175kW. The outdoor display is versatile, catering to various user needs and enhancing functionality.
Michael Kosla, Senior Vice President at LG Business Solutions, emphasised the company’s dedication to the global shift towards electrification. He stated, “The launch of our first Level 3 DC charger highlights our commitment to equipping U.S. commercial clients with effective solutions for expanding their EV charging infrastructure.”
For the brand’s commercial customers, the introduction of Level 3 DC chargers also creates new business possibilities. Kosla noted that “the combination of our Level 2 and Level 3 chargers presents opportunities for businesses, municipalities, and public locations to facilitate America’s electrification.
On top of that, this initiative allows for independently operated charging stations, generating new revenue streams and providing unique marketing opportunities that differentiate businesses in a competitive market.” The EV chargers are integral to LG Electronics’ broader electrification strategy, which aims to help customers transition to sustainable energy solutions.
This strategy not only promotes environmental protection but also reduces costs. LG’s range of electrification products includes heat-pump-enabled HVAC systems, water heaters, dryers, energy storage solutions, and ENERGY STAR certified smart appliances like induction ranges.
What’s more, to further support energy efficiency and cost savings, LG offers the ThinQ Energy platform, allowing customers to manage their home’s energy consumption conveniently. Additionally, the brand’s extensive nationwide network of sales, customer support, and technical maintenance professionals gives the company a competitive edge over smaller firms. This support system ensures that customers feel confident in their investments in private charging infrastructure.
LG’s Level 2 AC and Level 3 DC chargers also come equipped with reliable software that integrates seamlessly with other LG infrastructure elements, including digital display networks, further enhancing their utility and appeal.
