First-Ever Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron Revealed With 656km Range

The Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron offers an alternative bodystyle to the Q6 e-tron.

Last year, Audi showed the Q6 e-tron, which was the company’s first vehicle to be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) chassis which it co-developed with Porsche. The PPE’s trump card was that it had a maximum DC Fast charging speed of 270kW with bank charging as well as dual AC charging ports. While the Q6 e-tron had an impressive range of 600km, now they’re revealing an alternate bodystyle with even more range due to improved aerodynamics. The Sportback has a c_d value of 0.26 while the standard Q6 e-tron’s stands at 0.28. This new car is also 37mm lower to the ground.

The all-new Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron is able to stretch the range of the PPE signficantly to 656km at the cost of of a raked roofline. While this eats a little into the cargo compartment, the Q6 Sportback e-tron still features a respectable 511L of bootspace, which can be expanded to 1,373L with the rear seats folded flat. What’s more, it still retains its 64L frunk. It’s clear to Audi at least that the gains in range are worth the small practicality hit, and their customers seem to think so as well – Sportbacks are Audi’s best selling bodystyle.

At launch, the Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron will be available with an 83kWh battery pack with 2-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and S variants. Later a 100kWh battery will be available on the performance variant and this is the version with the claimed 656km range.

The base model has a 0-100km/h time of 7 seconds, with the rear-wheel drive performance model doing the same in 6.6 seconds. Meanwhile, the Q6 Sportback e-tron quattro completes the century sprint time of 5.9 seconds.
