All-New Mitsubishi Triton Launches In Malaysia

The Mitsubishi Triton has been launched in Malaysia for an attractive price and with a new single-cab variant.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has officially launched the all-new Triton pick-up truck with prices starting at RM101,980. There are 5 variants available in Malaysia:

  • Triton Single Cab – RM101,980
  • Triton MT – RM114,980
  • Triton AT GL – RM116,980
  • Triton AT Premium – RM145,980
  • Triton Athlete – RM165,980

Even the most basic Triton Single Cab variant is pretty interesting as it’s the first time Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is offering such a specification. This version comes with a 2.4L turbo diesel complying to Euro 4 standards and tuned to 184PS and 430Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual transmission and an Easy Select 4WD system. You get 17″ steel wheels, drum brakes at the rear, rain sensing wipers, auto headlights, LED rear fog lamps. It’s a pretty basic set-up but you still get a multi-info display, and a Bluetooth-enabled audio system with 2 speakers. It is only available in Solid White with an unpainted bumper and black door handles.

The interior is a largely fabric-and-urethane affair. Steering adjustment is tilt only and seat adjustment is manual. Safety includes ABS, EBD, BA as well as Active Stability Control, Brake Override System, Hill-Start Assist, Trailer Stability Assist, Front seatbelt reminders, Active Limited Slip Differential, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). As standard, the Triton has 3 airbags which includes a driver’s knee airbag.

Step up to the double cab GL spec and you get some interesting changes. The wheels are 16″ on this model but it could be considered an upgrade as they are now silver alloys instead of basic unpainted steel rims. You get black side steps this time around and the audio system here has 4 speakers. You’ll find one USB-A port in front, another in the rear as well as another USB-C port at the rear. This variant can be specified with either a 6-speed conventional automatic or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Colour options are Solid White or Blade Silver. This is the only variant available in Blade Silver.

Climbing up yet again to the Premium variant, you’ll find only the 6-speed automatic gearbox. Wheels are upgraded here to 18″ alloys in silver. This model is available in White Diamond or Graphite Grey paint. This is also where you’ll find LED auto headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lamps, chrome finishing on the Dynamic Shield Design and wing mirrors, with silver finished side steps. Inside, there’s a push-start ignition, a high-contrast meter panel, a colour multi-info display, a touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto readiness, 6-speakers, an additional USB-C port in front, a digital dual zone climate control system, a rear air circulator, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt AND telescopic adjustment, passive cruise control, auto door locks, leather upholstery with stitching, a power adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette gear shifter, a front-facing DVR and a reverse camera has been added alongside front parking sensors. Hill Descent Control is also present. The safety front is where we see the most additions, with 7 airbags fitted and ADAS including:

  • Forward Collision Mitigation System
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Change Alert
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Auto High Beam

Finally, you have the full-spec Triton Athlete. This model has a new version of the 2.4L MIVEC Diesel with a two-stage diesel engine conforming to Euro 5 emissions standards. This engine has an increased output of 204PS and 470Nm of torque. There’s a more advanced Super Select II 4WD system with 7 Drive Modes (Normal, Eco, Gravel, Sand, Mud, Snow and Rock) and you get Mitsubishi Motors’ famed Active Yaw Control. The 18″ alloys here are finished in gloss black. The Athlete also comes with some aesthetic upgrades to the bumpers, ride height and fenders that increase the dimensions slightly. The Dynamic Shield Design is now finished in Metallic Black and there’s gloss black mirrors with Dark Titanium side steps and black-finished door handles. You also get a little spoiler. Inside, you’ll find a wireless charging pad, and upgrades to the upholstery to suede and orange leatherette. Other upgrades include a tyre pressure monitoring system, adaptive cruise control. This model is available in White Diamond, Jet Black Mica and Yamabuki Orange.

The warranty package for all bookings of the Triton Athlete made by December 2024 is 5-years long with unlimited mileage. Bookings made later and for the rest of the variants will have a 5-year/200,000km limit. The new Triton has been available to order since the beginning of October.
