Is This Really The Value Of A Used BYD Atto3 Or Not

Looks like the seller might have mistakenly priced this popular Atto3 electric vehicle online

In December 2022 (just 2 years ago) the BYD brand of electric vehicles was launched and distributed in Malaysia by Sime Darby Motors Malaysia. This great news came right after BYD EV’s started selling well in the island state of Singapore where the Atto3 was launched a few months earlier and distributed by Sime Darby Motors Singapore.

Now, 2 years later and after delivering more than 10,000 units of electric cars to happy Malaysians, BYD has recently launched an updated Atto3.

This latest variant of the BYD Atto 3 (pictured below) arrived in just one variant, but now that one variant has been improved with a larger 60.48 kWh battery which gives it up to 480km on the generous NEDC cycle. This new battery pack also enables slightly better acceleration though the electric motor’s output remains unchanged at 204PS and 310Nm of torque.

It is able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds, which is slightly quicker from the previous versions 7.9 seconds. The upgrade to the battery also brings with it an upgrade to DC charging speeds from 70kW to 88kW. The new charge speed should get you from 10 percent to 80 percent in 40 minutes. Unfortunately, AC charging is still capped at 7kW, so a full charge from 0 percent at home will take almost 10 hours.

Meanwhile, the first generation Atto3 which is on sales here at just RM51k (sounds too good to be true) came equipped with Blade batteries, which is a 60.5kWh unit that provided a decent 480km driving range (when brand new) and it took slightly less than one hour to recharge on a DC quick charger.

At its launch it was priced at RM149,000 (Standard Range). Which means just after 2 years, the owner of this unit is selling his Atto3 at just about 35 percent of its original selling price which does not make sense since most used Atto3’s are in the classifieds for double this very low asking price. (RM118k to RM128k). Could this be a flooded car or accident damaged?

This Atto3 measures 4,455mm in length, 1875mm in width, 1,615mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,720mm. Its boot space is 440L (expandable to 1,340L) and the car weighs in at 2090kg.

Its electric motor is capable of 150kW (201hp) and 310Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h takes just 7.3 seconds.

Taking ownership of a 2 years plus old electric car means it still has its factory battery warranty. You will be able to have this Atto3 checked by the BYD after sales to ensure the battery pack, motor and systems are trouble free and for its asking price you have 5 plus years of trouble free EV ownership.
