Subaru Levorg STI And Forester Turbo Spotted Are Used Recon Cars
Motor Image is also selling used AP imported Subaru models in their showrooms now
There were some new reports last month circulating that Motor Image Malaysia will be launching the Levorg STI and Forester Turbo.
This is not completely true as the Subaru models in question are actually USED Japanese vehicles imported in using a recon car AP and sold as used recon cars at Motor Image. It is an extension of the Subaru brand sales service.
Subaru lovers in Malaysia were interested in this news as prior to this sighting, you could only buy the Levorg STI (which is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Boxer petrol engine delivering 350Nm of torque and 296bhp of power) in a body size that is 4690mm (L); 1780mm (W); 1490mm (H) and a moderate weight of 1538kg and the Forester Turbo (which is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged Boxer engine producing 177bhp and 300Nm of torque) from private AP importers in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Motor Image was only selling the Thailand assembled normal aspirated Forester and also XV as the new selling price for an imported Forester Turbo and also Levorg STI would breach the RM200k mark and this will not sell well with Malaysians.
Even the well equipped Thailand assembled Forester and XV has been hit with low sales the past year due to the variety of all new Chinese auto manufacturers like Chery, Jaecoo and GAC offering SUV’s of similar size and features at much lower prices …… well as much as RM50k lower. However, they all lack the iconic Boxer engine sound and the grippy asymmetric all wheel drive system.
This has pushed Motor Image to revert its business model to fully imported all wheel drive Subaru’s which have a small but loyal following in Malaysia. So, you can still buy the sporty and desirable BR-Z and WRX brand new at Motor Image showrooms in Malaysia.
So, if you are looking for ‘special’ Subaru models, Motor Image Malaysia has in stock and also be able to import a used Subaru for you.
