If Peugeot does expand its lineup in Malaysia, will it see similar success?
August was a notable month for Peugeot, with the brand seeing its share of the electric vehicle (EV) and van market rise to 5.9 percent, a significant increase of 4.5 percent from August 2023. The brand also secured a position among the top five for electric vehicle sales. Notably, Peugeot achieved an impressive 26.7 percent sales mix of electric cars in August, surpassing the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate target.
This growth was largely fueled by the debut success of the new E-3008. Within just two months of its launch, the E-3008 became the UK’s second best-selling electric midsize SUV and ranked among the top ten best-selling electric cars overall and Peugeot continues to lead the market with the most extensive all-electric lineup of any mainstream European brand.
Moreover, so far in 2024, Peugeot has sold over 9,661 EVs, up from 6,579 at the same point in 2023. The new E-3008 and E-5008, with ranges of up to 422 miles (about 679km) and 411 miles (about 661km) respectively, are the latest additions to the lineup. By the end of 2024, Peugeot plans to offer 12 all-electric vehicles, including nine passenger cars and three electric light commercial vehicles.
In the electric van segment, Peugeot’s performance remains strong. The brand led electric van sales in August and for the year-to-date, with the new E-PARTNER and E-EXPERT ranking as the top two best-selling vans in August. The E-EXPERT is also the UK’s best-selling electric van of 2024.
On top of that, this success in the electric vehicle sector has established Peugeot as the UK’s leading e-LCV brand in 2024, with an 18.4 percent share of the electric van market, reflecting a 6.9 percent increase compared to the previous year and Peugeot is doing well in Malaysia right now so it is safe to say the brand is doing well all across the board.
Peugeot’s commitment to electric mobility is supported by its comprehensive Allure Care Warranty, which covers the electric motor, onboard charger, transmission and key electrical and mechanical components for up to eight years or 100,000 miles. This makes Peugeot the first European manufacturer to offer such extensive coverage.
The warranty is automatically activated and free for the first two years or 16,000 miles after each service at a Peugeot-approved after sales network.
