OMEGA Unveils Seamaster Regatta Commemorates 37th America’s Cup
Omega Seamaster Regatta is a titanium encased watch that celebrates high-speed boat racing.
In a bold move that reinforces its commitment to ocean exploration and precision timekeeping, OMEGA has announced the release of its latest masterpiece: the Seamaster Regatta. Launched to commemorate the 37th America’s Cup, this cutting-edge timepiece is designed to meet the exacting demands of sailors worldwide. Last month, Omega also released a special Seamaster Diver 300M also for this occasion.
The Seamaster Regatta is a testament to OMEGA’s longstanding tradition of creating innovative watches for high-speed boat racing. With its impressive 46.75 mm case crafted from grade 5 titanium, this watch is built to withstand the rigors of life at sea while providing an array of essential functions for competitive sailing.
At the heart of the Seamaster Regatta lies OMEGA’s brand-new Calibre 5701, a multifunctional quartz movement that powers an impressive suite of features. The watch boasts both analog and digital displays, offering sailors a comprehensive set of tools at their fingertips. Among its standout functions are a moonphase indicator, chronograph, sailing logbook, temperature gauge, accelerometer, and three customizable alarms. Of course, no sailing watch would be complete without a regatta race function, which is prominently featured in this model.
OMEGA has paid meticulous attention to the watch’s legibility, understanding the challenges of reading a timepiece in turbulent seas. The unique dial incorporates an LCD display with black markings on a white-grey background, ensuring clear visibility of the various digital readings. The analog display features Diver 300M-inspired hour, minute, and central seconds hands. In a clever design twist, these hands can be cleared from the display when in backlit mode, further enhancing the legibility of the digital readouts.
Ease of operation is a key factor in the Seamaster Regatta’s design. The watch features four pushers – one in red and three in blue – all cast in rubber for optimal grip and usability in wet conditions. A sandblasted crown with a laser-engraved OMEGA logo completes the control interface, operated through push and turn actions.
In an innovative approach to functionality, OMEGA has incorporated audio cues into the Seamaster Regatta. The watch’s caseback features a wave pattern designed on the principles of “Helmholtz resonance,” creating a resonating cavity that amplifies the volume of the watch’s alarms. This feature ensures that crucial audio signals can be heard even in challenging maritime conditions.
The caseback is not just functional but also a visual treat. It proudly displays the distinctive 37th America’s Cup logo and is engraved with “SEAMASTER REGATTA” and “37th AMERICA’S CUP,” along with the caliber designation.
Complementing the watch’s robust functionality is its striking aesthetics. The blue polished ceramic bezel ring harmonizes perfectly with the dial and pushers. The timepiece is presented on an integrated blue rubber strap, secured with OMEGA’s patented Quick-Change system for easy interchangeability.
OMEGA’s President and CEO, Raynald Aeschlimann, emphasized the Seamaster Regatta’s place in the brand’s lineup of instrument watches. He noted, “Our new Seamaster Regatta belongs to the same family of watches as the Speedmaster X33. It’s essentially a multifunctional tool that you can wear on your wrist.” Aeschlimann also highlighted the watch’s timely release, coinciding with the America’s Cup in Barcelona, which he believes will inspire sailors globally.
