Porsche also unveiled a one-off Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade as well
Porsche has launched its extensively updated all-electric Taycan range in Southeast Asia with an impressive event held at the repurposed Pasir Panjang Power Station in Singapore. This new Taycan builds on the success of its pioneering predecessor, showcasing significant enhancements in performance, efficiency, luxury, and comfort.
Porsche introduced seven variants of the Taycan, including the new Cross Turismo body type. The show culminated with a surprise unveiling of a unique Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, created through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program to honour the vibrant Southeast Asian region with bespoke features and a one-of-a-kind design.
Moreover, the updated Taycan is available in two body styles, namely the Taycan sports sedan and the adventure-oriented Taycan Cross Turismo. The new design includes revised front and rear styling, HD matrix headlights, and a three-dimensional rear light strip with an optional illuminated version for added sophistication.
Performance-wise, the new Taycan features a rear electric motor that offers 80kW more power while being 10.4kg lighter than its predecessor. This improvement allows for quicker acceleration, with the Taycan now reaching 100km/h from standstill in 4.8 seconds, and the Taycan Turbo S achieving this in just 2.4 seconds.
On top of that, a new ‘Push-to-Pass’ function in the Sport Chrono package provides a temporary boost of up to 70 kW for swift overtakes. The Taycan’s range has increased by over 35 percent compared to its predecessor. The Performance Battery Plus variants now feature a 105 kWh battery, allowing the Taycan to travel up to 678km on a single charge.
Enhanced charging capabilities also mean faster recharging at DC stations, with an 18-minute charge time from 10 to 80 percent. Standard features across the updated Taycan range include adaptive air suspension, Porsche Active Ride suspension (for AWD models), and much more.
A standout feature of the launch was the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, showcasing Porsche’s craftsmanship through a unique blend of Chromaflair paints and bespoke details, including a special ‘LongMa’ logo and carbon-weave finish components. This model reflects the region’s cultural vibrancy and Porsche’s innovative spirit.
The new Taycan starts at RM575,000, with deliveries expected by late 2024. The Celestial Jade model will be featured at Porsche Studio Singapore before embarking on a Southeast Asian tour.
