The specs for the Malaysia-bound XPENG G6 have been leaked ahead of its introduction by Bermaz.
By now, it’s no secret that Bermaz is joining the EV game as the distributor for Chinese EV producer XPeng. Today we got news that the first model from XPeng to be introduced in Malaysia will be the XPeng G6, a relatively new electric coupé crossover that was previewed in both Thailand and Singapore recently. The Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owner’s Club FB page today shared a spec list for the Malaysia-bound car. It is speculated that the target price for the G6 in Malaysia will be RM180,000.
As it turns out there will be two trim levels – a G6 435 Standard 2WD and a G6 570 Long Range, both with rear-wheel drive set ups. The low spec model features a smaller 66kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and returns 435km on the WLTP cycle while the high spec model gets a much larger 87.5 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery which returns 570km.
From the start, XPeng’s strategy has been to partner up with traditional dealers in China where many of its rivals try the direct sales model to emulate Tesla. The G6 is XPeng’s third model to be introduced in Europe and is built on the SEPA2.0 platform which features cutting edge 800V architecture and very advanced software. This is the same underpinnings behind the larger XPeng G9 and can provide up to 280kW of DC Fast Charging at the appropriate station, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes. 11kW AC charging is what you get here. Vehicle-to-Load charging is available on this vehicle.
There is an all-wheel drive performance version of the G6, but we feel Bermaz made the right decision in omitting this one as range matters much more than going from 0-100km/h in 4 seconds. Anyway, both rear wheel drive models have 282hp and 440Nm of torque to play with, which is nothing to scoff at even in the EV world.
The XPeng G6 comes with a 571L boot, a 15″ infotainment unit and a 10.2″ driver digital instrument cluster. 20″ rims are standard. In some markets the car comes with a large panoramic glass roof, leatherette upholstery, two 50W wireless charging pads and a 960W 18-speaker audio system.
In Europe at least, the XPeng G6 comes with a 7-year/160,000km warranty.
