SEIKO Celebrates 100th Brand Anniversary With TRX Boutique

SEIKO, thrilled watch aficionados with the grand opening of its newest boutique in the heart of the city, at The Exchange TRX.

This new boutique, Malaysia’s first that features the brand’s finest offerings, commemorates SEIKO Brand 100th anniversary since the introduction of its first wristwatch.

It also heralds a century of SEIKO embarking on a new chapter in the brand’s illustrious history.

The modern boutique showcases SEIKO’s distinguished collections including the King Seiko, Astron, Presage, Prospex and Seiko 5 Sports.

These iconic collections embody the brand’s continuous commitment to excellence, precision, and innovation, offering something for every watch fan and collector. The boutique not only elevates the shopping experience for watch enthusiasts, but also sets a new benchmark for quality and reliable timepieces in the Malaysian market.

To mark the momentous occasion, SEIKO also unveiled the Power Design Project Exhibition 2024 for the first time in Malaysia.

Under the theme “Incredibly Specialized Watches”, this year’s exhibition showcases seven unique conceptual designs that epitomise SEIKO’s innovative spirit and technological mastery. Mr Yu Ishihara, the brand’s Design Director of the Design Development Team who was specially invited for the event, captivated the audience with the unique creative vision behind the seven designs.

The Power Design Project is an experimental initiative for the Japanese watchmaker’s in- house designers to explore the essence of watchmaking beyond traditional limits, expressing their creativity and individual perspectives.

“As the sole distributor of SEIKO timepieces in Malaysia and Brunei, our long-standing partnership with Seiko Watch Corporation fostered since 1963 is grounded in shared values, mutual trust and unwavering support.

The solid foundation has enabled us to introduce this boutique to our Malaysian watch fans. We are delighted to celebrate SEIKO Brand 100th anniversary with everyone through an exclusive exhibition that highlights the brand’s boldest aspirations. I look forward to seeing the Malaysian watch market continue to thrive as we embark on this new chapter together,” said Mr Joseph Wong, Chairman of Thong Sia Group, who travelled from Hong Kong specially for the grand opening.

Making his inaugural visit to Malaysia since helming the organisation in April 2021, Seiko Watch Corporation President Mr Akio Naito flew in from Japan to officiate the boutique’s grand opening. The event was also graced by the presence of key figures from Seiko Watch Corporation, including Mr Yoshikatsu Kawada, Director & Senior Executive Vice President and Mr Yukiaki Suganuma, Vice President. Mr Joshua Wong, Vice Chairman of Thong Sia Group also joined the celebration. Adding to the excitement was the special appearance of Welson Sim, Malaysia’s two-time Olympian and SEIKO Prospex Brand Friend.

The Power Design Project Exhibition 2024 offers visitors a unique glimpse into the artistry and contemporary aesthetics that have made SEIKO a global leader in watchmaking. Located on The Exchange TRX’s Concourse, Ground Floor, the exhibition is open to all until 11 August 2024, giving visitors a rare opportunity to gain insights into the creative process and visionary concepts of SEIKO’s in-house designers.
