Scania Launches Super Truck, New Bus Generation & Driver App

The Scania NBG innovation now goes digital and makes it easier to access and use

Scania has recently unveiled its new Super truck and New Bus Generation (NBG), which promise substantial advancements in fuel efficiency and digital integration. The Super truck offers an impressive fuel economy improvement of up to 8-9 percent compared to previous models.

Both the Super truck and the NBG come equipped with a range of new digital solutions, including the Scania Driver App, which enhances driver experience and fleet management. These vehicles are also designed to be FAME-prepared up to B100 as standard, supporting a reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 80 percent and aligning with national economic and environmental goals.

Moreover, the customer launch event at Bandar Malaysia received enthusiastic feedback from attendees. The Scania Super truck introduces a state-of-the-art combustion-engine powertrain that enhances fuel efficiency, achieving savings of up to 8 percent or more.

The 13-litre engine is designed for durability and operational longevity, with a 30 percent increase in life expectancy and an extended power range of up to 550hp. It boasts industry-leading engine brake thermal efficiency levels of 50 percent, setting a new benchmark in the heavy truck sector.

On top of that, the truck’s low-rev design ensures a smoother drive with peak torque available from 900 rpm. The upgraded gearbox features a wider gear ratio spread, facilitating smoother and quicker gear changes, thereby improving driver comfort and control. Safety features include standard Side Curtain Airbags, Steering Wheel Airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake System (EBS), and Traction Control (TC).

The new bus generation offers up to 9 percent improved fuel and emission savings without sacrificing performance. These savings are attributed to enhanced engine efficiency and advanced cruise control with active prediction. Driving style also significantly impacts fuel consumption, and Scania’s driver services contribute to further reductions in fuel emissions.

The NBG features advanced driver assistance systems, reinforced chassis construction for enhanced safety, and new Lane Departure Warning (LDW) technology. It is designed to provide a superior driving experience with ergonomic driver interfaces, smooth transmission, and efficient climate control, all contributing to passenger comfort.

Lastly, the Scania Driver App, launched at the event, integrates into the My Scania digital ecosystem. This app streamlines administrative tasks for drivers and simplifies fleet management, enhancing overall operational efficiency. Joyce Antar emphasised, “The driver is the most crucial asset in the transport system. The Driver App empowers drivers with data, allowing for more fuel-efficient, safer, and environmentally-friendly driving.”
