Scania Delivers First Double-Deck Bus With ADAS Systems To Super Nice

Scania is set to revolutionise the double-decker bus game in terms of safety

Scania has delivered its first double-deck coach equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to Super Nice Express, marking a significant milestone in their ongoing collaboration. The handover ceremony was held at Scania Malaysia’s Bukit Jelutong facility. The keys were presented by Ms. Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, to Mr. Roy Chew, Chairman of Super Nice Group.

The event was also graced by Guest-of-Honour YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the Minister of Transport, Malaysia (MOT), and attended by notable figures including Mr. Robert Lejon, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden, Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri, Director General of the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), and Professor Dr. Wong Shaw Voon, Chairman of the Malaysia Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).

Moreover, the new fleet consists of four Scania K410EB6X2 double-deck coaches. These vehicles come with advanced safety features such as LDW and AEB, which are designed to mitigate accident risks. Additional standard safety features include the EBS with ABS and Traction Control, ensuring enhanced driver visibility and control.

The coaches are also equipped with Scania’s efficient gearbox and seamless transmission, along with outstanding front and rear suspension systems, promising a superior and comfortable travel experience for passengers. 

On top of that, YB Anthony Loke highlighted the importance of road safety enhancements through various means, including improved infrastructure, driver behaviour, vehicle specifications, and inspections. He commended Scania and Super Nice Express for their strong and sustainable partnership, which is aimed at halving road accident fatalities by 2030.

Joyce Antar emphasised Scania’s commitment to advancing safety and sustainability in transport. She noted that Scania continuously evolves its offerings to meet market demands, with ADAS technologies playing a crucial role in reducing traffic accidents and casualties. The coaches purchased by Super Nice come with a comprehensive support package, including 2 years of Inclusive Maintenance, 2 years of Scania Assistance, and 10 years of Scania Fleet Management. 

Additionally, Scania’s Financial Services offer a tailored solution to facilitate Super Nice’s access to the latest technology. Super Nice Express has been a long-time partner of Scania, with over nine years of collaboration.

They were pioneers in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia by signing an Ecolution partnership to cut carbon emissions and were also the first to receive a single-deck coach with ADAS in 2022. Their Scania fleet has now expanded to 27 units.
