Local fashion designer and visionary Kit Woo captivated audiences at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2024 (KLFW 2024) with a revolutionary show that pushed the limits of fashion innovation. Woo’s collection, inspired by the sleek, modern aesthetics of the Peugeot 408, transformed the runway into a dynamic canvas that showcased his custom approach to design.
This year, Kit Woo’s collection, aptly named “Torn,” drew inspiration from horror films and video game characters, exploring the notion of beauty in the unconventional. His designs featured bold patterns and a striking mix of textures, reflecting the fluid lines and dynamic shapes of the Peugeot 408.
Moreover, Woo’s exceptional talent in cutting and draping fabric was prominently displayed, with each piece exemplifying his commitment to both high fashion and sustainability. Kit Woo explained his vision for KLFW 2024, saying, “I wanted to push the boundaries even further this year, creating avant-garde pieces that are both thought-provoking and true to my design ethos. My aim was to incorporate gender fluidity and dualism while staying true to my artistic identity.”
On top of that, the synergy between fashion and automotive design is profound, with both fields requiring a deep understanding of aesthetics, ergonomics, and cutting-edge technology. All of this put together makes for a spectacle no one will want to miss.
Daniel Gonzalez, Chief Operating Officer, ASEAN and General Distributors at Stellantis, remarked on this collaboration, saying, “The partnership between Peugeot and Kit Woo represents a fusion of Malaysian creativity and French elegance.”
“The Peugeot 408 embodies a language of attraction designed to evoke emotions, similar to how Kit Woo’s innovative and striking designs command attention with their bold and contemporary appeal.” He added.
What’s more, Kit Woo’s dedication to sustainability was evident in his collection, which highlighted his skill in transforming raw materials into art while minimising fabric waste. This commitment reflects his broader goal of using responsibly sourced materials and advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact.
