The America’s Cup will see OMEGA return as its official timekeeper for the 4th time this year.
OMEGA, the Swiss watchmaker, will once again serve as Official Timekeeper for the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, scheduled from August 22 to October 27, 2024, in Barcelona. This marks OMEGA’s fourth time in this role, following their performances in 2000, 2003, and 2021.
OMEGA’s association with the America’s Cup began in 1995 when they supported Emirates Team New Zealand. Their success that year paved the way for OMEGA’s future involvement as Official Timekeeper.
The company’s expertise in precision timing extends beyond sailing. OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper at nearly every Olympic Games since 1932, demonstrating their reliability in high-stakes sporting events.
For the 2024 America’s Cup, OMEGA’s responsibilities have expanded. In addition to the main event, they will provide timekeeping for two new competitions: the Puig Women’s America’s Cup and the Unicredit Youth America’s Cup.
Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA’s President and CEO, expressed pride in the company’s role, highlighting their earned place in the sailing world and their commitment to measuring every microsecond of the races.
To commemorate their role, OMEGA has released a special edition Seamaster Diver 300M. This 42mm stainless steel watch features:
- A blue ceramic bezel with a regatta scale
- A white ceramic dial with laser-engraved waves
- An America’s Cup trophy counterweight on the central seconds hand
- The America’s Cup logo on the sapphire crystal caseback
- OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806
This timepiece combines OMEGA’s renowned watchmaking expertise with design elements celebrating the America’s Cup, offering sailing enthusiasts a unique collectible.
As the 37th America’s Cup approaches, OMEGA stands ready to provide the precision timing crucial to this prestigious sailing competition, continuing its legacy in both watchmaking and sports timekeeping.
