MG has officially announced that Jozef Kaban, a distinguished automotive designer, has joined the company as Vice President at their Global Design Centre. This significant appointment comes as MG prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024.
Kaban, who brings with him a wealth of experience and innovation, will be instrumental in shaping and developing MG’s global design language. Jozef Kaban graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1997, specialising in transportation design.
Moreover, by the age of 25, he had already made a remarkable impact on the automotive industry with the creation of the iconic Bugatti Veyron. His work not only garnered widespread acclaim but also established him as a prodigious talent in automotive design.
Kaban’s career includes notable roles at several prestigious automotive brands. He served as the Audi exterior chief designer and held influential design director positions at Skoda, BMW, Rolls-Royce, and Volkswagen.
On top of that, Kaban’s appointment is expected to significantly enhance MG’s design capabilities and global presence. His expertise will play a crucial role in advancing MG’s vehicle offerings and accelerating the brand’s entry into international markets. At the heart of this effort will be the R&D Innovation Headquarters of SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG Motor.
Here, Kaban will oversee advanced creativity and product design, contributing to the development of groundbreaking models such as the MG Cyberster and the MG EXE181. The design centre, renowned for its cutting-edge design capabilities, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation and bringing visionary ideas to life.
What’s more, Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Motor Middle East, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, emphasising the importance of design in customer purchasing decisions. He noted, “We are proud of MG’s design legacy and are committed to continuing our tradition of delivering visually appealing and technologically advanced vehicles.”
“The regional team is actively working to relay Middle Eastern customers’ preferences and market trends to our headquarters, ensuring that we meet the evolving demands of our customers. Our goal is to be a brand synonymous with attractive, reliable, and high-quality products.” He added.
