Over the years we have seen a lot of Mazda MX5 modds but this is the best to date
Not everyone has the same taste in cars and modifications. But we want to share this build from Thailand which caught our attention when a fellow Mazda MX5 owner shared the pictures here (below pictures are taken by the owner of this NB and his name is Goff).
This is a second generation Mazda MX5 or better known as the NB model and the owner is an architect in Bangkok, Thailand. The work took about 2 years and we already know the high quality work that has been coming from Thai coach and engine builders in the last few decades.
The work done on this Mazda MX5 also shows high quality detailing both inside the cabin and under the aluminium hood.
It would be great if the owner of this rebuilt NB got the attention of Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan and gave him the opportunity to design the next generation Mazda MX5. What do you think?
We think more restomod ideas like this one should come from this owner and shared with the rest of the Mazda MX5 community as the roadster has more appeal and everyday useability over a ‘Singer Reimagined‘ restomod.
Meanwhile, the NB version of the MX5 is very rare in Malaysia and we remember when Cycle & Carriage was handling the distributorship of Mazda (and also Peugeot) in Malaysia, they imported in a handful of the MX5 NB, mostly in red colour and it took them some time to sell the cars as Malaysians at the time did not appreciate the MX5 roadster and were also not willing to pay slightly more than RM115k for a drop top two seater car.
