Dongfeng Box Chic EV SUV Coming To Malaysia Soon, Here’s What You Need To Know

Ah yes, another day, another Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has entered the land of Malaysia. So who is it this time? None other than Dongfeng, a brand some may know as Dongfeng Nammi in other markets. Well, the brand is entering Malaysia soon with its first passenger vehicle, the all-electric Dongfeng Box. Here’s what we know so far.
The Dongfeng Box has a quirky and cute design and a compact body measuring 4,020mm in length, 1,810mm in width and 1,570mm in height. Do note that it comes in 2 variants, the E3 being the higher spec and possessing about 430km of range and the E2, the lower spec with prices to be announced soon.
Moreover, the Dongfeng Box stands out with its chic design featuring a rounded, smooth interior. The front fascia is adorned with distinctive LED headlights running the length of the car as well. A striking contrasting suspended roof adds a sense of lightness and agility to its appearance, though this is only available in two colour options for the E3 variant.
The 4 available colours are white and green (for both variants) as well as purple and blue which come in the two tone finish and have matching interior colours respectively as well. The interior ambiance is enhanced with a customizable 32-colour ambient lighting system and a tiny digital driver display and a 12.8-inch floating central infotainment display.
On top of that, despite its compact exterior, the Dongfeng Box is very spacious on the inside. The E2 variant has a 2,663mm wheelbase while the E3 variant measures 2,650mm in length. This makes the car slightly more spacious than larger rivals too. Not bad for an EV with a maximum output of 70kW and a peak torque of 160Nm, with a top speed of 140km/h.
The Dongfeng Box supports both fast and slow charging methods, allowing for a quick recharge from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes with a DC charger. Additionally, the Box features an external discharge function, enabling users to power electrical appliances during outdoor activities such as camping. How much do you think it will cost on launch?
