Chery Omoda 5 Earns The Prestigious ASEAN NCAP 5-Star Rating
It seems the days where the Chery Omoda 5 is seen as not safe are long gone, or are they?
Chery Malaysia proudly announces that the Chery Omoda 5 has earned a prestigious 5-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries) safety evaluation. This accolade highlights Chery’s steadfast dedication to exceptional safety and quality in its vehicles.
The ASEAN NCAP assessment for 2021 to 2025 evaluates vehicles across four domains, namely Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist Technology (SA), and Motorcyclist Safety (MS). Each domain contributes a portion of the overall score, with AOP accounting for 40.00 points and COP, SA, and MS each contributing 20.00 points.
Moreover, the Chery Omoda 5, the first model from Chery to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP, scored an impressive total of 88.64 points, achieving the coveted 5-Star rating. The score breakdown includes 36.77 points for Adult Occupant Protection, 17.36 points for Child Occupant Protection, 19.51 points for Safety Assist, and 15.00 points for Motorcyclist Safety.
Key highlights of the Chery Omoda 5’’ safety performance include a stellar rating on the frontal impact test, excelling at the Side Impact Test, Pedestrian Protection Test and Blind Spot Detection. Well, it does not address the figurative elephant in the proverbial room, it still shows that the car is nowhere near as unsafe as many assume it is.
On top of that, Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia, emphasised that this 5-star rating reflects Chery’s unwavering commitment to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction. “This rating is not merely a badge of honour but a promise to our customers that their safety is our highest priority.” Chew stated.
Chew further noted that the rigorous ASEAN NCAP testing process, covering various safety aspects, confirms the Omoda 5’s comprehensive safety features. With prior 5-star ratings from Euro NCAP and Australia’s ANCAP, the Omoda 5’s ASEAN NCAP achievement represents the pinnacle of safety recognition.
The Chery Omoda 5’s advanced safety features, including multiple airbags, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic stability control (ESC), and anti-lock braking system (ABS), contribute to a robust safety network designed to protect occupants and prevent accidents.
