Bao’an District Gets Its First Intelligent Charging Station

How long do you reckon it will be before Malaysia gets intelligent charging like Bao’an?

The Bao’an District has just unveiled its first intelligent charging station, marking a significant advancement in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This cutting-edge facility is located at the Xingye Toyota Auto Sales and Service Store and represents a strategic partnership between Dachanghang Group and Infy Power.

EV Charger

This new supercharging station stands out due to its integration of multiple advanced technologies, including photovoltaic solar panels, energy storage systems, ultra-fast charging capabilities, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) interaction. By combining these elements, the station enhances energy efficiency and flexibility, setting a new benchmark for sustainable energy solutions.

Moreover, the station features 18 dedicated charging spaces and supports ultra-fast charging with a maximum power output of 480 kW. This enables an impressive “instant charge” capability, where vehicles can gain a range of over 250 kilometres in just five minutes.

Such rapid charging technology is designed to cater to the growing demand for EVs and reduce downtime for drivers. Additionally, the V2G technology embedded in the station transforms electric vehicles into “mobile power banks.” This innovative feature allows vehicle owners to sell excess electricity back to the grid, generating additional income.

One car owner also reported that charging their vehicle at night costs only 0.24 yuan (roughly RM0.15) per kWh. However, during peak hours, they can sell this electricity for 1.3 yuan (approximately RM0.79) per kWh, resulting in a profit of approximately 1 yuan (around RM0.61) per kWh. For instance, a single discharge of 60kWh could yield an earnings of around 60 yuan (about RM37).

On top of that, this development not only supports the adoption of EVs by offering faster and more convenient charging options but also encourages the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage solutions. By enabling vehicle-to-grid interactions, the station helps balance grid demand and supports overall energy sustainability.

Well, China has been making stellar advances in EV and EV CHarging tech as of late so it is not surprising to see this, however, with Malaysia falling significantly behind despite the seemingly endless push from the Government, one has to wonder, will we ever see tech like this being implemented in our country? If so, when?

EV Charging

Overall, the introduction of this intelligent charging station in Bao’an District signifies a major leap forward in the evolution of EV infrastructure, combining technological innovation with practical benefits for car owners and the community alike.
