Xiaomi SU7 ULTRA Electric Car Accelerates In 1.97 Seconds

SU7 Ultra Performance Version Launched

Earlier this week, Xiaomi unveiled the performance version of its fast selling SU7 electric car. It called the SU7 Ultra and it delivers a mind blowing 1,548 horsepower.

This to us really defeats the purpose of electric cars being built to counter climate change as the battery charging for a 1,548 horsepower vehicle like this one will consume a lot of electricity (probably coal powered). Right?

Well, its being built right now for bragging rights and that is why this hyper electric car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds (thats just under 2 seconds), 0 to 200 km/h in 5.96 seconds, 0 to 300 km/h in just 15.07 seconds and it reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.

During its launch event, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that in October this year, Xiaomi plans to send the SU7 Ultra to the Nürburgring in Germany to shatter a few more existing records.

The initial goal is to beat the Porsche Taycan GT’s lap time of 7 minutes and 7 seconds, and Lei Jun is confident that the SU7 Ultra will surprise all the traditional supercar manufacturers, electric and ICE.

Also at the event, Lei Jun showcased the SU7 Ultra with its hyper car horsepower alongside other supercars like the the Bugatti Chiron with 1,500 horsepower, the McLaren Speedtail with 1,070 horsepower, the Porsche 918 with 887 horsepower, and the Ferrari LaFerrari with 963 horsepower, implying that his SU7 Ultra electric hyper car sits side by side among these European hyper cars ready to do time trail battle.

In addition to its impressive performance, the SU7 Ultra is built entirely from carbon fiber, making the overall weight only 1,900 kg, which is some 500 kg lighter than the standard road going Xiamoi SU7 sedan.

For braking performance, the SU7 Ultra does not disappoint as it is equipped with the AP Racing competition brake system, including lightweight callipers and disc brakes, allowing the car to decelerate from 100 km/h to 0 in just 25 meters.

The asking price? Well, there is no price tag as yet and you can be sure there are enough buyers ready to put down a booking when the price is announced.
