Pagani Utopia Roadster Shown

The Pagani Utopia Roadster was developed alongside the coupé but debuts nearly 2 years later.

Pagani is not one of those performance car companies that puts out a new model every few years. Since they started of they’ve had the Zonda, the Huayra and now the Utopia. Unlike the models before, Pagani claims that the Utopia Roadster is the first to have the coupé and roadster models developed concurrently. That being said, the nearly 2 year gap between each version’s launch shows that the convertible model probably had a few more items to work out first before its public debut.

The joint development of both models has resulted in very little performance difference between the two models. The same designers and engineers worked on both models as well, hence the high level of continuity between both models.

The Pagani Utopia Roadster has the same butterfly doors as the coupé model. The removable roof has a removable soft top or hard top. The soft top can be placed in a suitcase while the hard top has a stand. This hard top also comes with a single large roof window to differentiate it from the coupé model.

Being a Pagani, the Utopia Roadster has a lot of customisation options for the interior. Two special matching suitcases are supplied with every purchase with leather-covered carbon inner shells. These have special compartments next to the engine. They can be matched with the interior or customised for contrast against it.

Powering the Pagani Utopia Roadster is an AMG-sourced hand-assembled V12 with 864 horsepower and 1100Nm of torque available. This engine is twin turbocharged but has no hybrid system. An Xtrac-sourced 7-seed manual gearbox is positioned transversely behind the engine with an adjustable triple disc clutch. An AMT automated gearbox is also available for those who prefer to shift via paddles.

The shell of the car features more than just carbon fibre but also more exotic materials such as aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, titanium, Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62. As a result, the Roadster retains the same lightness as the Coupé weighing in at just 1280kg.
