Kia K4 Revealed, Will Malaysia Receive It?

The Kia K4 apparently exceeds expectations but will it sell here given that it is a sedan?

Kia introduced the 2025 K4 at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, marking its fourth-generation compact sedan aimed at exceeding customer expectations with advanced technology and enhanced performance. The K4 emphasises spaciousness, boasting class-leading rear head and legroom, alongside a turbocharged engine option and a standard multi-link rear suspension for responsive handling, particularly on the GT-Line variants.

Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, highlighted the K4’s role in delivering sporty sedans with cutting-edge features, aligning with Kia’s strategy to over deliver on customer desires in the competitive compact segment.

Moreover, key features include standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an available multi-segment display cockpit spanning nearly 30 inches, offering enhanced connectivity and visibility features like camera feeds. The K4 will debut in the U.S. in late 2024 across five trim levels: LX, LXS, EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo.

Design-wise, the K4 showcases bold proportions under Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, blending a fastback roofline with a wide stance for a visually striking presence. It stands out with vertically oriented LED headlights and taillights, and a spacious trunk offering 14.6 cubic feet of cargo space.

Inside, the K4 raises the bar with a wide cockpit featuring integrated digital instrumentation, a first for its class. The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system, originating from Kia’s flagship EV9, spans nearly 30 inches and supports OTA updates. The K4 also introduces Digital Key 2.0 with Ultra Wideband, allowing for virtual vehicle access via compatible smart devices.

The K4 focuses on reducing noise and vibration with features like an acoustic windshield.

Safety-wise, the K4 integrates Kia’s latest ADAS suite with standard features like Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), along with optional advanced systems such as Forward Collision Avoidance 2 (FCA-2) and Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA-2).
