Jaecoo J7 Launched In Malaysia From RM138,800 To RM148,800

Jaecoo Malaysia has finally started selling vehicles in Malaysia and they’re kicking things off with the Jaecoo J7.

The Jaecoo J7 was launched today more than half a year after it was first previewed to Malaysian media. The mid-sized luxury lifestyle SUV from new Chery sub-brand Jaecoo will be sold in Malaysia in two variants – the J7 2WD and J7 AWD which are priced at RM138,800 and RM148,800 respectively. The Jaecoo J7 is locally-assembled at the Chery Malaysia Factory. Under the hood, the Jaecoo J7 comes with a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo with 194hp and 290Nm of torque available on tap. This is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. In terms of performance, the 2WD version has better fuel efficiency (7L/100km vs 7.7L/100km) and does the century sprint faster (9.2 s vs 9.9 s).

In terms of equipment, the J7 is really well equipped regardless of which variant you choose. Standard equipment includes a 10.25″ digital instrument cluster, an 8-speaker Sony Premium Audio System, a 50W wireless charging pad with cooling system, 64-colour rhythmic ambient lights, 19″ alloy wheels, and more.

The Advanced Driving Assistance System and safety suite is also very extensive, including features such as a 540-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, curve speed assistance, departure ahead inform, door opening warning, emergency lane keeping, front collision warning, integrated cruise assist, intelligent evasion system, intelligent headlamp control, lane changing assistance, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, rear collision warning, rear-cross traffic alert, rear-cross traffic braking, and traffic jam assist.

That being said, the AWD model has a few features that are missing from the 2WD model, namely the larger 14.8″ infotainment (13.2″ on the 2WD model), rear privacy glass and additional driving modes thanks to the all-wheel drive intelligent system (ARDIS). The 2WD model has Eco, Normal and Sports modes while the AWD model adds Sand, Mud, Snowfield and Off-road modes.

The Jaecoo J7 comes with a 7-year/150,000km mileage warranty as standard. However, if you have already booked or plan to book before the 21st of July 2024, there’s a special early bird package which includes a 10-year/1,000,000km mileage ENGINE warranty. These early bird buyers will also get a free upgrade to the 14.8″ infotainment unit if they opt for the 2WD model. Four colours are available in Malaysia: Moonlight Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Model Green.

The Jaecoo nationwide dealer network currently numbers 35 outlets including the ones in Sabah and in Sarawak. There are 6 panel insurers for the Jaecoo Prime Protection Programme.
