Good News Another RM99k Used Japanese Import Tesla SOLD
There will be more Malaysians wanting to take ownership of a used Tesla now
Tesla’s most affordable electric car arrived in Japan just a month after its UK launch in April 2019. This means the Model 3 has been on sale in japan for 5 years and its launch price at the time was just 5,110,000 yen.
In March 2021, two years after its launch, Tesla gave a huge 24 percent discount on the Model 3 in Japan which pushed its selling price to a low 4,290,000 yen and this resulted in a huge drop in used Tesla values.
So, why did Tesla push their new prices down in Japan? Well, according to ‘Bloomberg’, Japan is the home to the initial prime mass market electric car market which is the Nissan Leaf, a car that only sold well in some parts of Europe and of course Japan and lets not forget the biggest hybrid car market which is the Toyota Prius.
At the time, Tesla boss Elon Musk wanted to make a big impact in Japan to counter the Nissan leaf and Toyota Prius, however until his ‘price slash’ nearly half way into 2020 Tesla had sold only 376 units of the Model 3 in Japan and in comparison to 5,704 units of the Nissan Leaf sold and 2,606 units of the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrids being sold in Japan.
So, now it clearer how a used Tesla Model 3 in Japan can be purchased for an attractive price, imported into Malaysia, updated locally for easy Malaysian ownership and sold for just RM99,000. This should encourage more AP holders to import and sell used Tesla’s into Malaysia.
So, this is the second Tesla Model 3 sold by Go Daddy Motorsport for a reasonable RM99,000 and they have expressed on their Facebook page that the 2nd owner (this latest sale) prefers some privacy and we respect this decision.
The first owner of the RM99,000 Tesla which we highlighted a few days ago has remarked that he will be renting out his Tesla Model 3 and this makes sense against his purchase decision.
