Ford Capri Electric Vehicle Launched With 627km Driving Range

Ford Capri Returns As An Electric Vehicle Looking Very Much Like A Polestar

Did you know that there is a ‘Ford of Europe’ which is based in Cologne, Germany? Well, they were responsible for some of the large models decades ago. Well, right now this office is experiencing a change in management and a falling market share. Now it’s up to the historic nameplate to turn things around.

So, the most famous name in Ford’s European history is the Ford Capri and it is back as an electric vehicle (with 4 doors).

The original Capri sold almost 1.9 million units (pictured below) across a single generation and it was never officially replaced after it concluded its official run from 1968 to 1986.

The new Capri is a coupé SUV with a sporty design and shares the MEB technology from the Ford Explorer and Volkswagen ID.5.

This new Ford Capri is 4.634 meters long, 1.872 meters wide and 1.626 meters high when unladen. The wheelbase is 2.767 meters. Aero light-alloy wheels come as standard: 19 inches for the Capri equipment line, 20 inches for the Capri Premium, and wheels of up to 21 inches are also available as an option. Tire widths are 235 centimeters at the front and 255 centimeters at the rear.

Ford is equipping the rear-wheel drive version, like the four-wheel drive version, with an Extended-Range lithium-ion NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) battery. The option of preconditioning the battery has been integrated into the navigation system and also as a manual function.

It will deliver a possible 627 km driving range on a single charge. Up to 340 PS from dual motor, all-wheel drive powertrain, for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.3 seconds. 10-80 per cent charging in as little as approximately 26 minutes using 185 kW DC fast charging.

In the cabin you get the 14.6-inch SYNC Move tablet which is a screen that moves smoothly up and down whenever you want, for the most comfortable viewing angle or simply to suit your sense of style.

SYNC Move features voice activation, connected navigation and a configurable interface with light and dark modes. There is Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility as standard. There is also a dedicated holder accepts two large smartphones and includes a wireless charger.
