BMW M5 Performance Parts Sheds A Little From That 2.5 tonne Curb Weight

The latest BMW M5 hybrid weighs over 2500kg, so these lighter M Performance Parts are required.

The latest BMW M5 G90 is a hybrid model and that means it has to lug around both a V8 petrol engine as well as a battery pack. While the result of the hybrid combination is 727 horsepower and 1,000Nm of torque, the unintended consequence is that the car weighs in at over 2500kg. But every problem engineered by BMW has a potential money-making solution in waiting. And today we have learnt that the key to getting a lighter version of the current M5 is to pay BMW some additional money for lightened M Performance Parts!

BMW M5 M Performance Parts includes a range of exterior and interior enhancements.

Exterior Parts:

  1. Two-section M Performance rear diffuser in carbon fiber
  2. M Performance tailpipe trims in titanium/carbon fiber mix
  3. M Performance rear spoiler pro in carbon fiber (retrofit option)
  4. M Performance front splitter in carbon fiber
  5. M Performance sill extensions in carbon fiber
  6. M exterior mirror caps in carbon fiber
  7. M Performance side decals in Frozen Black
  8. M Performance aerial cover in aramid
  9. M Performance light-alloy wheels (available from Q3 2025)
  10. M Performance fuel tank cap in carbon fiber

Interior and Accessories:

  1. M Performance floor mats with decorative stitching and badging
  2. M Performance tyre bags with logo and wheel position graphics
  3. M Performance key case in black fine-grain nappa leather

All carbon fiber parts are hand-crafted from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with a high-quality clear coat finish. The exterior components are designed to enhance both the visual appeal and aerodynamic performance of the BMW M5. They integrate seamlessly with the car’s existing design, emphasizing its muscular proportions and dynamic lines.

It’s not entirely clear how much weight these CFRP parts will shed, but the carbon roof cuts about 30kg while the carbon ceramic brakes remove another 25kg. It’s probably less than 100kg lighter than the standard M5 though visually we have to say the Performance Pack looks like it’s bulkier than the standard M5 body kit.
