All-Electric Lexus RZ 450e Luxury Spec Priced At RM429,888
The all-electric Lexus RZ 450e has been introduced to Malaysia in one specification.
Lexus Malaysia has been rather quiet on the electric vehicle front compared to its European rivals. Today that changes with the introduction of the Lexus RZ 450e to our market. Their first electric vehicle gets a firm price ahead of its Toyota and Subaru siblings, the BZ4X and the Solterra which has similar e-TNGA underpinnings.
In Malaysia, the Lexus RZ 450e Luxury spec is being offered at RM429,888 with a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty from the factory and an 8-year/unlimited mileage warranty on the battery. This battery warranty can be extended an additional 2 years at cost. Speaking of the battery, in the RZ 450e, it’s a 71.4kWh lithium ion unit which can be charged via AC at 11kW or via DC charging at 150kW. At full charge, this premium Japanese EV is rated for 440km of travel on the WLTP cycle.
The Lexus RZ 450e comes with a dual motor, all-wheel drive set-up. The front axle gets a 150kW motor while the rear gets an 80kW motor for a total of 230kW or around 310 metric horsepower. The all-wheel drive system is known as DIRECT4 and it is key in delivering the signature Lexus Driving experience, which is characterised by Confidence, Control and Comfort.
For the Malaysian market, the Lexus RZ 450e is available in Sonic Copper, Sonic Chrome, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Sonic Quartz, Sonic Iridium and the new Aether Metallic. The vehicle features the Seamless E-Motion design concept with its dynamic form and muscular wheel arches with a Spindle Body up front.
Inside, you’ll find shift-by-wire paddle shifters, a dial-type shift knob, a heads-up display, 64-colour ambient lighting, Lexus Climate Conscierge and S-Flow Control with nanoe X air purification and 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. The cabin is an evolution of the Tazuna Concept with driver controls around the steering wheel. The centre console features Tsuyasumi ornamentation with a shiny charcoal effect. Besides that, the upholstery is made out of sustainable Grayscale Ultrasuede material from recycled PET and bio materials.
The 3rd generation Lexus Safety System + is features here with Lexus Teammate Advanced Park system, 4 Parallel View Monitor cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
