The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is the last F1-inspired Hypercar made with Hamilton’s blessings.
Last month Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, unveiled the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. This is yet another hypercar from the brand that embodies the spirit of Formula 1 racing, following up from the Mercedes-AMG One Hypercar. Strangely enough, the Mercedes-AMG One was quite a headache for the company, taking 5 years to go from concept to production and the company’s boss even expressed how difficult it was, joking that the board must have been drunk when they approved of the project.
Anyway, it looks like they must have gotten drunk again because the AMG PureSpeed seems to lean into the F1 spirit even harder.
Unveiled at the prestigious Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix, the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is the first model in the highly exclusive Mercedes-Benz Mythos series, limited to just 250 units worldwide. Inspired by legendary race cars, this unique driving machine blends unrivaled racing aesthetics with dynamic performance, making it a true masterpiece for automotive connoisseurs.
Key Highlights of the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed:
- HALO Safety System: Derived from Formula 1™, the innovative HALO system replaces the conventional A-pillar, protecting occupants while offering an unobstructed field of vision, just like in a Formula 1™ car.
- Design Inspired by Mercedes-AMG ONE: The concept’s design draws inspiration from the iconic Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar, featuring technical carbon fiber elements, a long bonnet, and a low front end with a pronounced “shark nose.”
- Homage to Legendary Mercedes Models: Design details pay tribute to motorsport legends, including flying buttresses reminiscent of the 300 SLR and a paint scheme inspired by the victorious Mercedes car at the 1924 Targa Florio race.
- Aerodynamic Optimization: The concept features aerodynamically optimized elements, such as wheel covers and deflectors, to enhance performance and downforce.
- Custom IWC Clock: The interior showcases a unique color and equipment concept, including a custom clock designed by IWC Schaffhausen on the dashboard.
Now, we’re all for special projects, but one can imagine how disappointed a few billionaires might be when they hear about this. After all, it was assumed that the AMG One would be something one-of-a-kind… Perhaps Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes-AMG prompted this new PureSpeed hypercar.
