All-New, All-Electric Porsche Macan Previewed In Malaysia

The all-electric Porsche Macan models have been previewed in Malaysia.

Ten years ago, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) launched the first-ever Macan. Today, they’ve opened the order books for the 2nd generation, all-electric Macan. The highly-anticipated BEV was previewed at the Porsche World Roadshow 2024 at the Sepang International Circuit. At this same event, the new Taycan was launched too.

Two variants of the new Macan were previewed in Malaysia – the new Macan 4 and the new Macan Turbo.

The all-electric Porsche Macan: Performance Meets Efficiency

The new Porsche Macan models feature the latest generation Permanently-Excited PSM motors for optimal efficiency and power. The Macan 4 has an output of 408PS and does the century sprint in just 5.2 seconds while the Macan Turbo has an output of 639PS and does it in 3.3 seconds. All-wheel drive comes with Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) and the chassis dynamics is helped along with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with two-valve damper technology on the suspension. Customers can opt for rear-axle steering on this new Macan for the first time. All this is thanks to the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) underpinnings of the new Macan.

The new Macan models are based on 800-volt architecture with 100kWh lithium-ion batteries enabling up to 613km of range on the WLTP cycle. DC fast charging at up to 270kW allows the batteries to go from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.

Also helping with the range and performance are Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). The new Macan has a drag coefficient of 0.25Cd and blends coupé like lines into its SUV form seamlessly. Malaysians can opt for wheels up to 22″ wide.

Inside, the new Macan is packaged well, offering 540L in its trunk and an additional 84L of cargo space in its frunk. The interior space is also a step up thanks to better packaging and a lower seating position.

The other big leap forward is the cabin experience. There are up to 3 screens on the new Macan, including passenger displays. For the driver, there’s an augmented reality heads up display. The infotainment runs on Android Automotive OS and there’s a new voice assistant that responds to the “Hey Porsche” prompt.
