Volvo Padel Open Is Serving Up Malaysia’s First And Largest Padel Tournament

Enjoy padel at a whole new electrifying level with Volvo Malaysia

Volvo Car Malaysia is excited to unveil the Volvo Padel Open, marking Malaysia’s premier and most extensive official padel tournament. In a bid to foster camaraderie and expand the social fabric of padel in Malaysia, Volvo Car Malaysia has joined forces with all Klang Valley padel clubs, ASCARO Padel & Social Club, Padelground, and PadelKu.

Competitors vie for top honours and prizes totaling up to RM100,000 across four categories, namely Intermediate, Open, Women’s and Wildcard. The tournament is scheduled to unfold from 8 to 15 June 2024. Participants are required to register as doubles teams, with skill assessments conducted upon registration to ensure fair competition and placement in the appropriate category.

Moreover, enrollment in the Volvo Padel Open is accessible with a nominal one-time fee of RM200 per team. Additionally, owners of the Swedish brand also enjoy a special rate of RM100 per team. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in complimentary coaching clinics leading up to the tournament, receive a sleek Volvo sports kit and much more.

With origins dating back to the 1960s, padel has emerged as the fastest-growing sport globally, boasting a staggering 25 million players across 110 countries. Since its introduction to Malaysia, padel has captivated enthusiasts with its fast-paced gameplay and emphasis on doubles camaraderie.

Volvo Car Malaysia has also been a steadfast supporter of padel, evidenced by its inaugural Koppla sporting event held last year at ASCARO Padel & Social Club. Patricia Yaw, Head of Marketing & Public Relations at Volvo Car Malaysia, expressed pride in the brand’s alignment with padel, shared values of community, lifestyle experiences, and technological innovation.

On top of that, Daniel Liljekvist, Managing Director of ASCARO Padel and Social Club, lauded Volvo Car Malaysia’s partnership, highlighting its contribution to enhancing player experiences and supporting the vibrant padel community.

Oliver Cheah, Director of Padelground, also emphasised the Volvo Padel Open as a platform to showcase the sport’s youthful and vibrant lifestyle, leveraging state-of-the-art courts at KLGCC to attract a diverse array of enthusiasts.
