Jetour Dashing & X70 Plus Previewed For Malaysian Market

Jetour made its Malaysian debut this week with the Dashing and X70 Plus shown.

At the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, we got a glimpse into the many new cars that several new car brands were launching or planning to launch here soon. While there were many brands all showcasing more or less the same few vehicles, one brand chose to show off two products that it built with the Malaysian market in mind – Jetour.

Jetour brought in the 7-seater Jetour X70+ as well as the Jetour Dashing 5-seater SUV and it focused heavily on the latter with plans to CKD the vehicle and two variants specified for our market. The brand had chosen this vehicle for the Malaysian market specifically to offer an alternative to the usual few small SUVs that young professionals choose.

About the Jetour Dashing

While the Jetour Dashing is certainly a stylish and handsome car it also has many cool features as well. The exterior styling is fresh and unique and this is mirrored in the interior which has a modem and tech-packed layout with a shift-by-wire transmission, big screens, ADAS features and even a wireless charger all in a clean and well designed centre console. Of course, the sharp and sleek headlights and taillights also add to the appeal.

The Jetour Dashing is a C-segment 5-seater SUV that sits on the Kunlun platform. It is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine good for 156PS and 230Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. Two variants are planned for our market – the Prime and the Signature. The Dashing Prime is the base model with respectable equipment – 18″ wheels, LED headlights, a powered tailgate, dual 10.25″ digital screens, a 50W wireless charging pad and much more.

The Dashing Signature model adds to the extensive kit list by adding a panoramic sunroof, a powered front passenger seat, ambient lighting, a 360-degree parking camera and a slew of other driver assist systems. Five colours will be available in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Jetour X70 Plus is a more conventional looking SUV for the average Malaysian family with seating for 7. This too will be offered in 2 variants – Prime and Signature. It’s likely the name will be changed for our market but what’s clear is that both this and the Dashing are close to ready for our market with right-hand drive models both on display. The engine is similar to the one found on the Dashing, but the horsepower rating is, strangely, lower at 150PS despite it being a larger vehicle expected to move a heavier “payload”. They’ve opted to mate a 6-speed dual clutch transmission in this vehicle. Equipment-wise it’s very similar to what’s available on the Dashing.
