Audi S3 Facelift Model Gets More Power, Equipment and A Redesign

The Audi S3 facelift for 2024 gets enough of a performance bump for the Golf R to be worried.

The highly anticipated Audi S3 has undergone a remarkable transformation with the facelift of the fourth generation model. For 2024, it gets a host of performance-focused upgrades that promise to deliver an even more thrilling driving experience. From increased output to advanced torque distribution and suspension enhancements, the new S3 is poised to redefine the boundaries of what a compact sports car can achieve. We do not anticipate that this Audi S3 will be launched in Malaysia as PHSAM will be more focused on electric vehicles. Then again, they have made the RS3 available, so perhaps there a chance for the S3 here too.

At the heart of the S3’s performance enhancements is the 2.0 TFSI engine, which has been tuned to deliver a staggering 333 PS and 420 Nm of torque – an increase of 23 PS and 20 Nm, respectively. This power boost translates to a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 4.7 seconds, ensuring the S3 can leave its competitors in the dust. The engine and transmission have also been optimized for improved responsiveness and performance, with a sportier tuning that keeps the turbocharger preloaded at steady speeds and low to medium acceleration, providing an even more immediate and engaging driving experience.

But the S3’s performance upgrades go beyond just raw power. Audi has also equipped the vehicle with a cutting-edge torque splitter system, which was previously only available on the high-performance RS3. This technology allows for fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, enhancing both agility and stability through corners. By sending more power to the outside rear wheel during cornering, the torque splitter helps the S3 turn in with greater precision and control, resulting in a more dynamic and exhilarating driving experience.

To complement the increased power and improved cornering capabilities, Audi has also made significant enhancements to the S3’s suspension. Wishbones with stiffer bearings and new pivot bearings allow for more negative wheel camber, improving steering response and lateral control for better grip and handling. The progressive steering system has also been optimized, with a more centered feel in the middle position for enhanced responsiveness and precision.

Rounding out the performance upgrades are two new 19-inch tire options, including high-performance Falken tires that offer exceptional grip and track stability, as well as larger, ventilated brake discs and new two-piston calipers for improved braking performance.

The result of these extensive upgrades is an Audi S3 that is poised to deliver a thrilling, engaging, and dynamic driving experience like never before. Whether tackling winding roads or conquering the racetrack, the new S3 is primed to redefine the expectations of what a compact sports car can achieve.
