Volvo Car Malaysia Hosts Its First Safety Driving Experience For Its Customers

We got to test out how safe Volvo vehicles really are in real world scenarios

Volvo Car Malaysia hosted its first-ever Safety Driving Experience to cap its For Life campaign at KL Base, Sungai Besi, the iconic first airstrip in the country. We were lucky enough to also test out these vehicles and see how safe we are inside these cars when in real world scenarios.

Held over the first weekend of March, the event saw 240 participants consisting of Volvo owners and fans alike learning essential defensive driving skills through exercises such as brake, steer and avoid and quick-reaction lane changing. All of which is good practice in case one encounters these situations on the road.

Moreover, participants also had the opportunity to experience the cars’ acceleration and handling through slalom course on the 1.8km-long runway itself, with Volvo’s on-board safety technology for cross traffic alert and pilot assist featured between turns.

The event also showcased the Swedish brand’s entire range of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, including the Volvo XC90 and XC60 SUVs, the S90 and S60 sedans, the V60 estate, and the sub-compact XC40 currently offered with either a fully electric or mild hybrid powertrain.

On top of that, the highlight of the display was the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric crossover SUV in a new Vapour Grey colourway option, updated for model year 2024 with up to 550km in electric range, faster DC charging for a larger battery pack, and pixel “Thor’s hammer” headlight technology.

Patricia Yaw, Head of Marketing & PR of Volvo Car Malaysia also stated, “The Volvo Safety Driving Experience perfectly sums up the ethos of our For Life campaign – When you feel safe, you can be truly free.”

“We want to empower Volvo drivers with the proper mindset and knowledge for safety on the road, learning life-saving skills with confidence in the latest Volvo cars equipped with cutting-edge advanced driver assistance systems and safety innovations acting as an additional safety net.” She concluded.

The Volvo Safety event was supported by Generali, the official insurance partner, Pirelli, the official tyre sponsor, IKEA, who provided catering and the Småland children’s activity area, and PURAS for a hands-on sensory experience with premium essential oils.
