Chinese Car Brand Jetour Coming To Malaysia Very Soon

Pronounced as Jietu, Jetour will be launching its brand and new models very soon

In January 2022 DSF.my teased that the Jetour brand might come to Malaysia before Ford Motor would consider selling the very popular Bronco in Asia Pacific. At the time there was a Jetour concept 4×4 SUV that looked as rugged and desirable as the North American Ford Bronco.

Well, looks like we were ‘on the money’ with this tease as Jetour is coming to Malaysia very soon and it started with a recently made statement that they have a target of 50 percent of their SUV sales to be outside China by 2027.

Jetour plans to sell half of its total production of 1.2 million units in 2027 in overseas markets with ASEAN a major target area.

One of the Jetour vehicles targeted for Malaysia is the Jetour T2 SUV which measures 4785mm in length with a 2800mm wheelbase. It is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol fed 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers 390Nm of torque and it works with a 7-speed DCT.

There is also a another variant that is powered by hybrid system which runs a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI high-efficiency hybrid dedicated engine. The engine has a maximum power of 115 kilowatts and a peak torque of 220Nm.

This vehicle carries the face of the Ford Bronco, but it also carries the muscular shoulders of the all new Land Rover Defender which is another much sought after SUV right now.

Jetour

Meanwhile, in case you were wondering, Jetour engines are from their own Independent R&D team. Jetour is a new product line launched by Chery Holding. Based on accumulation of Chery Holding for over 20 years in vehicle manufacturing, with the original intention of produce R&D is to be more intelligence, high appearance, big space, multi-functional and multi-seat.

In case you didn’t know this, Jetour is another car brand from Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery that was established in 2018. It is a mid-range brand of Chery for crossovers and SUVs.

So, there is Chery, which has a wide range of vehicles and then there is JAECOO which is the Chery premium SUV brand and they are about to launch their two best selling SUV’s in Malaysia in a few weeks time.

This Chery subsidiary, which currently has a presence in 35 countries, plans to enter 10 more markets in 2024 and set up two more plants abroad and we hope that Malaysia gets a manufacturing plant for the ASEAN region.
