Audi A3 Sedan, Sportback & allstreet Refreshed In 2024

The Audi A3 gets its first major refresh since the new generation was debuted in 2020.

When it comes to smaller Audi models, the A3 family serves as a good starter model. The A3 nameplate has been around since 1996 and in 2020 we got to see a new generation roll out with MQB evo underpinnings. This March, the A3 gets a refresh that brings changes to sedan, sportback, and allstreet bodystyles.

The biggest change for 2024 is the design. Audi calls this new look more dynamic, progressive and emotional. The frameless grille has a new structure that is flatter and wider. Lighting signatures are thinner with a 24-pixel element for the DRL.

There are actually four DRL styles possible and the user can choose which one they want through the MMI for the first time. Even the coming home/leaving home lighting scenarios have some personalization options.

There are new large side air intakes, a front spoiler, a new bumper with diffuser. S and RS models also get tweaked exteriors. District Green, Ascari Blue and Progressive Red are the ‘hero’ colours of this new A3.

The new cabin design is sharpened with a new shifter and air vent design, plus decorative fabric inlays and new interior lighting that even illuminate through the front doors. The A3 now includes a 3-spoke leather steering wheel with multifunction plus as standard. ambient lighting and a front centre armrest is also standard now. The centre console gets a new finish, as do the inside door handles.

The A3 can also be upgraded with contour lighting in the cabin that runs around the centre console and cup holders. The lighting experience is next level on the new A3, with the door panel featuring lighting signatures that show you when the doors are locked or unlocked. There’s also a new Sonos sound system with 3D sound. Dinamica microfibre material is also an option for the interior upholstery.

Besides the interior and exterior, the digital experience of the new Audi A3 is enhanced. There’s now DAB+ digital radio, a 10.1″ touch display, Audi virtual cockpit and a wireless charger as standard. Two front USB-C ports have been added plus two more at the rear as standard too.

Amazon Alexa integration allows users to stream music and operate home devices on their Audi A3. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is available. Other features are available through monthly subscription, including:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • High-Beam Assist
  • 2-zone comfort air conditioning

That means you pay for the hardware when you buy the car, but it’s locked behind a software wall until you pay ‘rent’ to Audi for those features. Audi is touting it as a plus, as you can pay for features just for when they are needed, Adaptive Cruise Control for your family vacation perhaps. It does sound like a horrible future is in store for premium car buyers of this sort.
