Apparently 3 people were hurt in this accident involving the 2 Mazda vehicles
So yesterday afternoon, a pretty bad accident took place on the Penang Bridge which involved 2 Mazda vehicles, one of which was a CX-3 SUV and the other a bigger CX-5 SUV with the latter actually catching fire after being flung a few hundred metres. Three people were injured in this accident. Let’s see what happened in detail.
Moreover, the Penang State Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) had received an emergency call at 12.08 P.M noon yesterday (4 February 2024) regarding a road accident that occurred at KM5.7, Penang Bridge (Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge), Penang involving the 2 Mazda cars.
Quick to act on the information, the Fire Department from BBP Batu Kawan with assistance from BBP Bayan Baru were rushed onto the scene of the incident as soon as the call was received and according to PBK II Azmi bin Tahar, 15 firefighters were deployed to help put out this fire involving the 2 Mazda vehicles.
The road accident involved a Mazda CX-3 SUV with 3 passengers inside and a Mazda CX-5 SUV with just one passenger inside. This accident and the ensuing fire should remind all of us that no matter how expensive a car is and whatever safety systems are on board there is no cure for stupid, so drive responsibly, always.
In the accident, the Mazda CX-5 was also estimated to have suffered up to 80 percent of its body of the entire vehicle being burned after it was thrown 300 meters after the incident. 2 victims riding inside the Mazda CX-3 sustained injuries and were taken to Sungai Bakap Hospital. While the other passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was relatively untouched.
On top of that, the other victim in this accident who was driving the Mazda CX-5 SUV also suffered some injuries and was sent to the hospital by members of the public. This experience truly does restore one’s faith in humanity and helps offset the horrific experiences one hears about these days.
The Fire Brigade that arrived at the location acted quickly to extinguish the vehicle fire until it was completely put out and handed over the case to the Fire Investigation Officer (FIO) for further action. Other agencies that are also at the location are the PDRM and Ministry of Health.
So if our readers take anything away from this, we hope it is that everyone learns to just drive safely at all times.
