Looks like the MG4 should stack up very well against other RM200k plus rivals
So not too long ago we spotted the MG4 EV on our roads and speculated that this formerly British, now Chinese owned electric vehicle (EV) maker would finally set up shop right here in Malaysia. After all, the brand is already doing very well in our neighbouring country, Thailand.
So it was only a matter of time but while this remains to be seen, the brand has given us another reason to want it here.
Last Friday night, MG won the Fully Charged award in the best EV under €40,000 (about RM204,007) category with the MG4 Electric at the RAI in Amsterdam. Thousands of EV drivers cast their votes in each of the 15 categories so we know that the awards were pretty fair and the winners truly deserved their achievements.
Moreover, in the category best EV under €40,000, MG won over eight other nominees, including Dacia Spring Electric 65 Extreme, Fiat 500e Hatchback 42kW, Jeep Avenger Electric and Volvo EX30 Single Motor. This confirms the MG4 Electric’s success among EV drivers. Clearly, competition was very stiff but the MG4 proved to be superior.
With more than 62.000 sales of the MG4 since the launch in 2022 in Europe, the MG4 Electric is one of the best-selling MG models in Europe and in the Netherlands. Winning the best EV under €40,000 award crowns the success of this EV, which previously already achieved five stars in Euro NCAP safety test and contributed to a sales record for MG.
On top of that, the Fully Charged AWARDS are the first ‘Consumer Choice’ awards for clean energy and EVs. The awards were held for the first time this year during the Fully Charged LIVE Europe event at the RAI in Amsterdam.
The event, powered by green technology pioneer myenergi, brings together leaders and pioneers from across the electrification sector to celebrate the direction of the EV transition, as well as the acceleration of renewables and the smart homes of tomorrow. I also honestly think we need more unbiased awards like this to force automakers to deliver better products.
The nominees were selected after a large-scale survey of the Fully Charged SHOW audience, after which the first candidates were selected by the team itself, plus a panel of 15 energy and transport experts, before the finalists were chosen in each of the 15 categories. There, MG was awarded with best EV under €40,000 for their MG4 Electric model. Kudos to MG for this.
