CelcomDigi is the first telco offering of this kind of EV service in the market
CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and Yinson GreenTech today announced a partnership offering for Malaysians to own an electronic vehicle (EV) at the convenience of subscribing via CelcomDigi postpaid account. The collaboration and launch today was witnessed by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz.
Made possible through a partnership between CelcomDigi’s Innovation Centre and Yinson GreenTech, the green technology business unit of Yinson Holdings Berhad (Yinson), one can now lease-to-own a rydeEV e-bike simply by signing up for any of CelcomDigi’s Postpaid 5G plans with the Easy360 instalment plan.
Moreover, this marks the first offering devised since both parties inked an MoU last September promising to explore the development of innovative electric vehicle services and infrastructure for Malaysian consumers, driving EV and green energy adoption in the country.
CelcomDigi now offers one the convenience of an all-in-one subscription model via the Easy360 instalment plan. Customers simply need to sign up for any CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans and subscribe to Easy360 instalment plan to lease-to-own one of two rydeEV e-bikes, at RM299 per month (Ryder model) or RM430 per month (Hyper model), for 36 months.
Adding to the existing benefits of the Easy360 instalment plan, RM0 upfront payment (for eligible customers), 0% interest and RM10 postpaid plan rebates for 36 months, customers can also enjoy added EV-related benefits throughout the contract period.
These include unlimited battery swaps at appointed battery stations (currently only available within Klang Valley), road tax and insurance coverage, e-bike maintenance (except tyres) upon concluding the 36-month contract, as well as the option to own the e-bike for just RM1.
On top of that, there are two rydeEV e-bike models that will be made available to CelcomDigi customers, namely the Ryder and Hyper models. Ryder has a maximum speed of 65km/h and comes in one colour (red) while Hyper has a maximum speed of 90km/h and comes in three colours (red, blue, and orange).
Both models have an average riding range of 70 to 75km when fully charged at the riding speed of 45km/h, depending on riding behaviour and load. Both models are equipped with swappable battery technology capabilities, effectively eliminating the need to stop and charge the e-bike when the battery is low.
Utilising a battery-as-a-service model, e-bike riders can simply swap their current battery, when running low on power, to a new fully charged one at convenient battery stations. So are you going to sign up for this if you are a CelcomDigi user?
