The successful twenty-year collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and the Italian “Polizia di Stato” continues. This time, the Sant’Agata Bolognese carmaker has delivered a Urus Performante to the Italian Highway Police, which will enter into service in 2024.
The ceremony took place in Rome in Piazza del Viminale, outside the Ministry of the Interior headquarters where Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, handed over the keys to the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of Head of Police, Vittorio Pisani.
Moreover, the collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and the Italian State Police started in 2004, and the Urus Performante is the sixth model to enter into the Highway Police fleet. The Super SUV joins the Huracan LP610-4, and will be used for special services including the urgent medical transport of organs and plasma.
Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini also stated, “It is with great pleasure that we are continuing our twenty-year co-operation with the Italian State Police.”
“Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud. These initiatives, which bring us great satisfaction, demonstrate our innate close ties with Italy.” He added.
The Police specific Urus Performante was fitted out by Lamborghini technicians at Sant’Agata Bolognese, starting from the exterior, following police specifications. The livery was designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile and combines the classic blue color of the Italian State Police and white, with tricolor bands on the sills and seat belt.
On top of that, The police logos have been applied to the doors in reflective film, while a light bar with 360° blue LED lights has been installed on the roof, together with a two-tone electric siren which really make the Lamborghini Urus Performante Polizia look extra good.
The cockpit has also been customized with various elements that are indispensable for the public security service, including an armored weapon box; a flip-down message display; and a special compartment in the trunk for stowing service equipment and a defibrillator for first aid response as well as a fridge for organ transporting.
It also includes a display and data logger for the continuous monitoring of the internal temperature. The Lamborghini Urus Performante Polizia is equipped with a twin-turbo V8 making about 657hp (666CV) of power and 850Nm of torque allowing it a century sprint time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 306km/h.
