Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia continues its tradition of giving back with the 13th edition of the annual “Christmas in a Shoebox” social initiative. This year, the luxury automaker brought joy to 47 children at Rumah Hope, a sanctuary for abused, neglected, and underprivileged children aged 5-17. Reflecting on a meaningful and impactful year, Amanda Zhang expressed, “Our annual ‘Christmas in a Shoebox’ stands as a strong testament to our commitment to community engagement.” The event not only brought joy to the children at Rumah Hope but also engaged Mercedes-Benz Malaysia employees in a festive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Zhang emphasized the importance of creating a better and sustainable future for the next generation, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate initiatives.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s employees actively participated in brightening the holiday season for the children of Rumah Hope. The “elf squad,” as they were affectionately referred to, played a pivotal role in selecting and delivering personally curated gifts for each child. Decked out in festive attire, the employees transformed Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles into festive sleighs, complete with reindeer decorations, to deliver the gifts with style.

The festivities at Rumah Hope included engaging activities such as games, wish-placing on a Christmas tree, and creative painting sessions reflecting the essence of Christmas and sustainability. A surprise visit from Santa Claus, who distributed the specially curated gifts, added an extra layer of delight. The event concluded with a delightful meal, fostering smiles and creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

Rumah Hope serves as a sanctuary for abused, neglected, and underprivileged children aged 5-17. Their mission is to provide a suitable social setting with physical and emotional care for children who have been deprived of life’s necessities.

Mercedes-Benz Grants for Good Programme

As part of its commitment to creating a better world for Malaysians, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia donated RM100,000 to seven nonprofit organizations through the “Grants for Good” programme. This unique initiative empowers employees to nominate and vote for preferred nonprofits, putting them in control of the donation selection process.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s 2023 Corporate Citizenship strategy focuses on environmental sustainability, education, and community relief. These pillars guide the company in channeling resources to make a tangible and long-lasting impact in these crucial areas.

In line with this commitment, the renewal of the partnership with Nicol David Organisation’s Little Legends programme, accompanied by a RM100,000 donation, reflects Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s dedication to educating the next generation on the importance of leading a sustainable lifestyle through workshops and initiatives.

As the year draws to a close, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia continues to drive positive change, proving that the spirit of giving extends far beyond the roads they travel.
