Will Honda also decide to locally assemble the e:N1 EV here in Malaysia too?
Honda launches the e:N1 electric vehicle (EV) production line, and this 100 percent electric car is being produced at the Prachinburi factory in Thailand. This is exciting news as it means that the EV will be launched in Thailand soon and if this happens, it could also be launched in Malaysia next.
This could happen in one of two ways, either Honda will likely continue to handle production in Thailand exclusively either way but either the e:N1 EV will be fully imported from Thailand to be sold here in Malaysia after its official launch in Thailand or it will be locally assembled here and thus a bit cheaper.
Moreover, the Honda e:N1 is expected to launch in Thailand during the first quarter of 2024. At the beginning of December, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. opened Honda e:N1 production line, where the all electric crossover SUVwill be built at the Honda factory in Rojana Industrial Park.
Prachinburi Honda is the main Japanese car brand that started producing electric cars for the first time in Thailand under Honda technology production standards and now the brand continues this tradition with the newest offering it has so why not make use of its capabilities to also sell their EVs here in Malaysia as well?
On top of that, with Malaysia already accepting Honda very well, proven by the fact that it is consistently the best selling non national brand in Malaysia for so many years now, an EV from the brand will likely mean this EV will definitely do better than most other EV s in the market here right now anyway.
In Malaysia Honda will announce launch details of this all electric Honda e:N1 somewhere around the first quarter of 2024. So it would make sense if the production was handled in Thailand already, at least for now, and if demand for the e:N1 is overwhelmingly good, then the brand can also begin production of it here as well.
Well, either way, this is the start of something very big and with the Honda Thailand plant already starting production of the e:N1, it is only a matter of time before we end up seeing an EV becoming the best selling non national offering in the country as well. The only question now is, when will it happen?
