Maxus MIFA 9 first fully electric MPV on sale now in Malaysia
The Prime Minister of Malaysia has launched this full electric MPV which could signal its use by the Malaysian government as the official vehicle for Ministers.
There are two variants of the MIFA 9 and are priced at RM269,888 (for the Luxury variant) and RM289,888 (for the Premium variant).
Now, both variants have similar powertrains. They come with a 90kWh battery and a WLTP battery driving range of 435km. Interestingly, the battery can be fully charged in 8.5 hours with a maximum AC input of 11 kW, or charge from 30-80 percent in about 36 minutes with a 120 kW DC fast charger
Using a single motor driving the front wheels with a power delivery of 245PS and 350Nm.
Other luxury and must have features include dual power sliding doors, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, heated side mirrors, sunroof and a powered tailgate. Plus, it is nearly 5,300 mm long, 1,840 mm high and has a 3,200 mm wheelbase, while it is about 2,000 mm wide which is perfect for government use.
Meanwhile the Toyota Alphard is 4,945 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,895 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The MIFA 9 offers a 2-2-3 seating layout with individual captain chairs in the second row, complete with massage function to give our Ministers a comfortable ride after a hard days work, cool air ventilation to provide a super comfortable seating and Ottoman functions.
It also comes with advanced technological features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless charging pad.
This emission free MIFA 9 is a possible replacement for the current fleet of government Toyota Vellfire MPVs. The decision to choose the MIFA 9 over electric powered alternatives like Tesla or the Mercedes Benz EQS would show the Malaysian government’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The MIFA 9 distributor is Weststar Motors which has been a supplier of commercial vans to various government agencies for decades which reaffirms the possibility of this MIFA 9 being an official government vehicle.
