Will the Skyworth Skyhome finally give German luxury brands a run for their money here?
Chinese electronics giant, Skywell has just unveiled a wild luxury sedan dubbed the Skyhome, set to begin production next year. With more and more electric vehicles (EVs) coming out of China, it was only a matter of time before we got something like this. The question now is, will it come to Malaysia to challenge the Germans?
A host of innovative features set the Skywell Skyworth apart from other luxury sedans and it will be produced through Skywell’s Skyworth automotive division. Chinese media reports that the eventual production model is expected to be available for between 220,000 and 250,000 yuan, about RM144,972 to RM163,678.
Moreover, the Skyworth Skyhome is extremely sleek. While many modern cars are covered in sharp edges, the exterior of the is concept is surprisingly curvy with a flowing front fascia complete with LED headlights and a LED light bar spanning the length of the car which is mirrored in the rear as well.
The company has also equipped the Skyworth Skyhome with digital wing mirrors, flush door handles, a panoramic glass roof, and a full-width LED light bar. The most intriguing features are found in the cabin, and this is where the car will truly outpace every luxury sedan in the market right now.
Positioned on the dashboard is a massive curved screen housing the gauge cluster, infotainment display, and a screen directly in front of the passenger. The Skyworth Skyhome concept also sports a yoke-style steering wheel, complex ambient lighting, and a wide array of different materials.
On top of that, rear-seat passengers will be able to enjoy a particularly luxurious tech-packed experience thanks to a huge flexible screen that slides down from the roof. There is also a refrigerator in the rear of the centre console. There are also more screens in the rear of the front headrests along with a pair of tray tables and a foot massage function. It really seems like a private jet on wheels.
Skyworth will reportedly sell both two and all-wheel drive versions of the Skyhome and the flagship model will reportedly make 617hp through a pair of electric motors and should be able to hit 100km/h from standstill in 3.5 seconds. The car is also equipped with air suspension and rear-axle steering. If this car goes into production, it will definitely put every conventional luxury sedan to shame.
