The Smart #1 is the future of urban mobility in Malaysia
Well, this has been a long time coming and now it is finally almost a reality. Yes, the Smart brand from Mercedes-Benz is here on display and has announced the debut of its very first model for the Malaysian market, the Smart #1 electric SUV which was co developed by Geely, yes the automotive partner of our national carmaker, Proton.
The stage was set for a historic moment as Smart Malaysia made its preview at the Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) 2023, unveiling an exclusive sneak peek of its highly anticipated all-electric vehicle, Smart #1 that was placed on the show stand of Mercedes-Benz and Smart Malaysia, for the very first time in Malaysia.
Moreover, this grand debut took place at the Setia City Convention Centre, signaling a new era in sustainable urban mobility. With its Mercedes-Benz inspired design and cutting-edge technology, Smart #1 is set to redefine the driving experience and raise the bar for electric vehicle excellence in the Malaysian market.
The event showcased the winning exterior design of the Smart #1, created within the global Mercedes-Benz Design network, featuring a completely new design DNA and key design elements include the floating panoramic halo roof, concealed electric door handles, frameless doors and CyberSparksLED+ Matrix Adaptive LED tail lights.
Visitors of EVx 2023 also had the exclusive opportunity to engage with Smart’s product experts, allowing them to ask questions about the Smart #1, and experience the car in person, witnessing the revolutionary design and technology firsthand. However, in an already saturated market, how will it stand out?
On top of that, Smart has also been making significant progress in establishing a comprehensive ecosystem in preparation for the upcoming electric vehicle (EV) launch. This includes finalizing the appointment of ten dealers across key regions such as Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Penang, Perak, Kedah and Melaka.
A strategic collaboration with Smart has also been established with local EV charging service providers to ensure customer access to a wider network of Direct Current (DC) fast charging stations. This also includes the earlier collaboration with Gentari Sdn Bhd, to install DC chargers to ensure convenient access to fast charging stations.
Additionally, the Smart team is diligently conducting rigorous vehicle testing to ensure the seamless adaptation of the EV’s to the unique road conditions in Malaysia as well as the development of a user-friendly mobile app, providing features like remote monitoring, charging station locations, and maintenance reminders, promises seamless connectivity and overall, an exceptional customer experience.
