Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur has introduced the all-new DB12 ‘Super Tourer’ to Malaysia.
The Aston Martin DB12 has been introduced to Malaysia by Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur at a price of RM1,088,000 before duties, taxes, options and customization. Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur offers an extended warranty of up to 20 years on this vehicle. This vehicle received its global debut just a few months ago in May 2023.
About the Aston Martin DB12
The DB12 is powered by a hand-built 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8 engine, meticulously tuned by Aston Martin engineers to deliver a remarkable 680PS at 6,000RPM and 800Nm across a wide torque band from 2,750rpm to 6,000rpm – a notable 34 percent increase in performance compared to its predecessor, the DB11.
Achieving these impressive power outputs was made possible through advanced modifications to cam profiles, optimized compression ratios, and the integration of larger diameter turbochargers. To handle the increased thermal demands, the DB12 features a completely redesigned cooling system with two additional auxiliary coolers and an extra low-temperature radiator for the charge cooler water circuit. This enhances thermal airflow with 56 percent more open apertures, allowing ample cold air to flow into the radiators. The centrally mounted bonnet vents, located above the twin turbos, ensure hot air escapes efficiently.
Transferring power to the rear wheels is an eight-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter, and for the first time in an Aston Martin DB model, an Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff). This cutting-edge E-Diff adjusts from fully open to 100 percent locked within milliseconds, delivering maximum response and precise throttle control. The DB12 impressively accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325km/h, thanks to its array of powertrain enhancements.
The ride and handling of the Aston Martin DB12 have undergone game-changing improvements, spearheaded by new-generation intelligent adaptive dampers. These state-of-the-art dampers possess a 500% increase in force distribution bandwidth, enhancing control and refinement across the DB12’s drive mode settings.
The Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system received meticulous attention, offering an on-centre feel and swift, natural-feeling response. The EPAS maintains a constant 13.09:1 ratio rack with variable, speed-sensitive assistance and 2.4 turns lock-to-lock. The level of assistance decreases incrementally as the car shifts into more aggressive modes.
Ensuring the DB12 has the stopping power to match its exceptional speed, it comes standard with cast-iron 400mm front discs and 360mm rear discs with grooved and drilled faces for improved thermal capacity. For even higher performance, optional Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) are available, providing resistance to brake fade up to temperatures of 800°C, while reducing unsprung mass by 27kg for better ride quality and steering response.
The exterior design showcases Aston Martin’s 75 years of DB heritage, combining bold elegance with a wider stance. LED headlights with distinctive daytime running lamp (DRL) signatures and intricate surface detailing adorn the all-new front end. The DB12’s track has been widened by 6mm in the front and 22mm in the rear, accentuating its iconic Aston Martin grille and muscular surfaces.
The interior of the DB12 exemplifies fine craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. Aston Martin introduces its next-generation infotainment system, entirely bespoke and designed in-house. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ connectivity through a 10.25-inch high-resolution touchscreen. Audiophiles will delight in the 11-speaker standard audio setup or the optional 15-speaker, 1,170W surround sound system developed in collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins.
