Using recycle PET bottles is one of the many ways to promote the EV6 electric car
This all new KIA electric car promises to deliver the very best ownership experience by making the electric lifestyle a viable option for day-to-day mobility. But its construction is also very interesting. Let us explain.
Kia’s EV6 has removed the perceived barriers that prevent many from making the switch to electric. As Kia’s first dedicated EV, it provides rapid charging times, access to an extensive charging network, impressive long range, segment-leading interior space and can even act as a portable battery pack to charge electrical appliances or other electric vehicles.
The EV6 is designed inside and out to deliver the very best experience an EV can offer, making ownership as convenient and accessible as running an ICE vehicle, and with reduced environmental impact.
Then there is a use of recycle materials as much as possible. Let the KIA team explain.
“Hello! I am Moonryong Im from Kia’s Busan Regional Headquarters in South Korea.
Did you know that the eco-friendly material applied to the interiors of this dedicated electric vehicle?
The KIA EV6, which is standing next to me, has a cabin that uses the equivalent to about 75 PET bottles.
In addition, we are also supporting ocean cleaning projects and planning to recycle plastic collected from the sea and apply it to our products.
At a time when sustainable living is becoming an important topic worldwide, what efforts should we make? I hope to see new technologies for the future of humanity at the 2030 Busan World EXPO.
The Kia EV6 has achieved product carbon footprint certification and ‘Carbon Measured’ label from the global climate change and sustainability consultancy of the Carbon Trust, becoming the first Korean vehicle manufacturer to achieve the certificate.
The Carbon Trust is an independent, expert partner of leading organizations around the world. It advises businesses on their opportunities in a sustainable, low carbon world and measures and certifies the environmental footprint of organizations, supply chains and products.
Total greenhouse gas emissions for the EV6 were measured using the PAS2050 Standards as part of the Carbon Trust’s robust product assessment. This covers emissions from the extraction of raw materials through to the end-of-life of the product and is measured in carbon dioxide equivalents (HADe).
The Carbon Trust ‘Carbon Measured’ label validates the accuracy of these measurements and provides customers with independently reviewed information about the carbon impact of their purchase.
Late last year the Kia EV6 received the 2022 Winter Vehicle Award for Best Electric Vehicle from the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA).
So, apart from the recycled materials used, one of the most striking elements of the KIA EV6 interior is a seamless high-tech curved high-definition audio visual and navigation (AVN) screen.
