Renew driving license for 9 years and get 1 extra year free.
Good news again from YB Anthony Loke and our Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Raya. Malaysian Motorists can now renew their driving licence for up to 10 years and those choosing this option will only need to pay for nine of those years as they will be given year ten for FREE.
By providing the remaining one-year fee for free this will save drivers RM30.00 which might sound little but its still a saving. This is another great initiative from our Transport Minister Anthony Loke who in constantly looking at ways to make life easier for Malaysian motorists.
Remember how just a few months ago he digitised our road tax stickers?
Next, we wonder if he will look into our (www.dsf.my) request to standardised license plates across all vehicles.
Meanwhile, drivers who want to take up this offer must have less than a year remaining before their licence expires.
So, where can you renew your driving license in Malaysia? Well, there are three possible places to go.
1. Post Office (Pos Malaysia)
To renew your driving license at any Pos Malaysia outlet is the best as it is fast and effcient.
2. Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ)
You can renew your driving license at your nearest JPJ office. To apply, you will need your MyKad and your existing driving license (photo is optional). The entire process of renewing your license here usually takes less a little more time and parking might be a an issue
3. Urban Transformation Centre (UTC)
You can also renew your driving license at the JPJ branch in most UTCs which has better parking and is said to be slightly faster that location 2 above.
