Honda HR-V Turbo \\ Crossover Of The Year VOTY 2023

Many crossovers have arrived in Malaysia but the Honda HR-V Turbo managed to tickle us and deserves the VOTY award in this category.

Our crossover of the year VOTY award goes to the Honda HR-V Turbo with its 180 hp motor and sleek looks. The previous Honda HR-V was a runaway success, propelling the brand forward in Malaysia and leaving rivals feeling thoroughly unprepared. With this latest generation, Honda have consolidated their position in the market and created a more upmarket vehicle for the masses.

The HR-V now offers the widest variety of powertrains in the market, from a naturally-aspirated 1.5L serving the financially conservative crowd to a e:HEV hybrid model for the environmentally conscious.

Our pick for VOTY 2023’s Crossover of the Year goes specifically to the Turbo model, which manages to be the perfect ‘sleeper’ in 2023. On the outside, it looks discrete and mature. However, if you find a nice stretch of road it’s an extremely fun car to push hard.

ABOUT VOTY 2023

The Allianz DSF.my Vehicle Of The Year (VOTY) Award ceremony is the first and only vehicle award event in Malaysia that does not hand out paid awards, nor does it charge winners or participating brands any fee whatsoever. Winners are allowed to use the VOTY event logo free of charge in all marketing materials. Event attendees are not even charged for their seat at the award presentation. All car manufacturers that operate in Malaysia are invited to participate free of charge. All they have to do is let our judges test drive their nominated vehicles.

The nominated vehicles must have been launched in Malaysia in the last 12 months and cannot be a localised minor facelift (body-kits, stickers, wheel upgrades, etc). All judging is independent and is put down to a vote before the winners are selected. Car manufacturers are not informed if they are winning or not before the event.
